The Backyard Preacher # 178 (WAR)

The human is born violent.  Murder is acceptable in society yet through what lenses do we view? Since Cain killed Able man has killed one another.  Yet statistically we live in the most peaceful time on the planet.  While we see more school shootings and stand in horror we do not think about the presidents who kill innocents everyday with drones.  What is the difference?  Lets explore war together!

WAR

The Backyard Preacher Podcast #166 (It’s a Trap)

What is the difference between work in the past and work today?  If you had the opportunity to make a living doing what you love would you?  Do you live to work or work to live?

Shut Them Down!

I read more news than I watch. I read an article that was disturbing but was completely believable Read: How to Avoid the Health Risks That Come With Financial Stress. We literally work ourselves into an early grave. I do not have to explain the reasons why we worry over money. I am just as guilty as anyone else. It is unfortunate however that we as a society have allowed money to have so much power.

The banks are the power of the world or as the apostle Paul speaks of Satan; “The ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.” (Ephesians 2:2, NIV). The banking system is an evil we all live in disobedience with, like a harlot, we all use banking services. They have us trapped. The banks are our gods and the governments our slave masters. Think about this, the world is in debt $164 Trillion dollars. That does not even make sense! Why be in debt to ourselves? We have allowed corporations to give us “jobs” so we can pay back interest on money that they do not even possess. The banks are then defended by government thugs. This process is done legally in part through fractional-reserve banking.

If we all just stopped being afraid. Well, first we would have better mental and physical health. It feels as if we are the ancient Israelites who were fearful of entering the promise land. After 40 years of fear Joshua takes command of his people with a powerful exhortation we would be wise to listen to today. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NIV).

I admit I am just as afraid, but we the people have the power. We could grind the corrupt system to a halt; all we would have to do is stay home. No more work just so we can eat all while those that do not feast from our labors. We would shut them down. That $164 trillion they say we owe; gone. We could raid on their parade with such veracity it would be like the Israelites marching around Jericho, we would tear the walls down. While this is taking place we would share with one another. No one would go hungry or be lacking. All of our combined skills would give us ample ability to then restructure society without Satan’s banks and governments.

So encourage you today. Do not be fearful of your financial situation. The world is yours, as it is ours, we own all things, and all things are owned by us. There is a promise for us that we can find through the teachings of great spiritual leaders like Jesus. We have been called to be visionaries and revolutionaries. What you have in your bank account does not define you and what they take away from you, is not really you. Share this message with your family and friends and if we all band together we can shut their system down.

Jesus Freaks, Control Freaks!

Why are Christians such control freaks? I think that it has been embedded into Christianity itself. Many believe that one must stay away from the “world” whatever that means?  That the Christian must watch every move they make so carefully that they do everything in order to please God or be a good “witness.”  The way I look at it, this causes nothing but, anxiety, depression, panic and fear.  Supposedly we were saved by grace and not of ourselves; but that is not good enough.  We always seem to need to add something to the program.  We just cannot leave well enough alone.  Maybe it seems too easy to really believe we are loved.  That a kind God loves us so much he sent his son to die for us.  While the Bible is filled with what I like to interpret as Christian suggestions; Jesus said to love.  That includes loving ourselves enough to not become anxious over the faith that saved us.

We poison our youth with teaching of abstinence and staying away from the opposite sex as if they were the evil from man’s rib; and vice versa. Even as adults sexuality is such a huge issue within the church.  Please, maybe if we talked about sex more openly we would not have these scandals.  Yet this is just one way that many in church leadership control the people.   I remember growing up not being able to watch TV on Sunday or doing any extra work.  Yet we went out to eat after church with no one ever complaining about the restaurant workers; looking back it is confusing.  I guess it is just human nature.

Examining our American society we all have been trained, you just do not get something for nothing. You have to work hard to live; that kind of sucks.  God; I did not ask to be born here, couldn’t you have made me an angel?  We must go to school, just to get a job, go into debt, now I must keep that job or loose the house and car; forced labor at its finest, what a scheme!  Who invented this crap?  What if I want to sit around all day and smoke bong hits, read my Bible and go about getting into adventures, helping people as I wonder the earth?  Would they call me a Christian or a homeless man?

Time to rid ourselves of the shame! When Jesus was walking the earth he would complain about the heavy moral weight that the Pharisees would place on their converts.  Often we come to Jesus and then decide now it is time to be a moral crusader.  Is that what Jesus taught us to do?  Go around teaching people how they should or should not live?  I do not think so.  He taught us to love one another and even that is an impossible feat.  All we can do is try our best and not worry about it.  Jesus said not to worry, so do not worry.  Simple enough, but our human nature insists that there is more to it.  I Wish I could tell you that there was a way out of this mindset.  I do believe that some people are living lives of more freedom than others.  As the apostle sad we need to crucify this flesh daily.

Capitalism Never Works

That title should read capitalism works; but only for the fortunate few. In such a great land as ours, the richest country in the world our people live in utter poverty. A large percentage of citizens are working two jobs without proper healthcare, nutrition, education and abysmal housing. Why is this you ask? It is because of the failing system we call capitalism. A system of private owners who control the government, a system which would work beautifully f it was not for greed. What do private owners want? You guessed it; money! You need healthcare; pay me, food; pay me, education; pay me, housing; pay me. The economic force of supply in demand is beautiful if it were not manipulated to serve the wealthiest. We in the United States have very little checks and balances on the greed of our citizens. I suppose greed is not illegal, yet to treat people inhumanely should be.

It is time we re-evaluate our system and step up our socialism. Let’s face it modified socialism works. I want to give you a military example. I served the United States in the Army for 5 years. During that time I was provided housing rent free, medical coverage, food, and free college education. I also received a pay check. I received this in exchange for my service as a Military Police soldier. The government already knows how to provide the services and help people to find meaningful work in areas in which they are skilled. Yet we the people do not run the government. You think that you are voting for someone with your best interest at heart. Wrong! It doesn’t matter who you vote for because the corporations with the fattest pockets are going to have the country in which is ran to service their never ending hunger for money.

I am not saying that everything should be operated by the government. I am not saying that you cannot start your own private business. All I am saying is if you are going to profit on American soil you need to provide a living wage along with health c are. That’s 15+ per hour plus no expense to the employee healthcare. This would be even easier if the government gave stipends to businesses to help offset cost. This along with food vouchers so the freezer is always full, and vouchers for housing. I am not saying people don’t need to work, I am saying to qualify for these benefits you must work.

When I think of countries like Sweden, Scandinavia, Belgium, and other EU countries, ponder why not us? Why can’t we spend more time developing our country and less time dropping bombs in the desert?
